About Us

Belfield Montessori Day Nursery is a privately run, family-run nursery in New Barnet, offering high-quality, professional childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We are open 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, all year round, with full-time and part-time places available.


Our Montessori approach

Maria Montessori believed children learn best when they are free to explore, choose and do things for themselves. That belief shapes every day at Belfield.


  • Child-led learning: children choose activities that spark their interest, and our educators guide and extend that curiosity.
  • A prepared environment: calm, orderly rooms with resources at child height, so children can find, use and tidy things away themselves.
  • Hands-on Montessori materials: real, purposeful materials help children understand number, shape and sound through touch.
  • Practical life skills: pouring, serving, dressing and self-registration build independence, concentration and confidence.



We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the framework every nursery in England works to, and bring it to life through Montessori principles.



Conveniently located

We are located in New Barnet just a short walk from High Barnet tube station and New Barnet train station. We have free parking available in the nearby roads, as well as ample space outdoors to store pushchairs. 


Learn while they play

We have a large outside space providing the opportunity for children to discover and learn about nature and the natural world, develop their sensory skills, and encourage imagination and play. Our outdoor space includes 2 gardens, with artificial grass, soft surface and gazebo as well as a large mud kitchen and planting area with a wide selection of equipment and resources.

  • My Son has been attending here for just under 2 years and started in baby room. It is safe to say he loves it here and has made some great friends and receives a great quality of care for his carers. They offer fun activities and seems they also have great teaching methods, as we feel he has picked up so many skills. They have also developed him to become confident and social and it has been so nice to see him flourish. We highly recommend this Nursery and all the caring staff there.

  • Both our children have been at Belfield since they were babies and we could not be happier with the care they receive. The staff are so caring and kind - if my kids ever needed a little extra help or anything, the carers always went the extra mile to give them what they needed.
